How Do I Sign a Tenancy Document?

When you've created a document such as a tenancy agrreement, section 21 notice or section 8 notice, you can sign the document in two ways.

Sign Electronically

To sign a document electronically:

  1. Sign in and go to the Landlords page
  2. Find the document in the Documents panel and click into it
  3. Find your name in the Recipients list and click on the Sign button
  4. Type your signature and confirm

Tthe document will now be electronically signed by you. This seals the document so you no longer edit it.

You can now send the document to the tenant by clicking on the Send button.

Verify the Electronic Signature

You may at some point need to verify the integrity of the electronic signature, for example in a court case. You can do this by clicking on the signature from the document Recipients list which will display the full details of the electronic signature and verify its integrity.

Sign Physically

To physically sign a document:

  1. Sign in and go to the Landlords page
  2. Find the document in the Documents panel and click into it
  3. Click on the PDF button to download a PDF version
  4. Use your PDF software to print the document and then sign it using a pen

The document will be stored in your account and can be referenced if you ever lose the printed version.
